Doelgroep

This course is intended for IT Professional messaging administrators and messaging engineers who serve as technical decision makers to evaluate new software, assess new software capabilities that:
o Enable new business solutions
o Improve IT services
o Improve IT operations

These IT technical decision makers have at least 3 years experience working with Exchange Server and are familiar with Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007 administration, basic Exchange design concepts, and the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer.

After completing this clinic, students will be able to:
o Describe the design priorities for Exchange Server 2010
o Configure the new client access features
o Configure the new messaging policy and compliance features
o Describe the new Unified Messaging features
o Describe the new federated sharing features.

Voorkennis

Before attending this course, students must professional experience in:
o Windows Server 2003 or 2008 including directory services.
o Windows XP or Vista and Office/Outlook.
o Windows-based mobile devices and mobile Office/Outlook.
o Asynchronous networking technologies including TCP/IP, messaging transports, remote access, VPNs.
o Storage and Storage Area Networks (SANs), clustering, load balancing.
o Basic virtualization concepts but are not experienced with the details of Windows Server Hyper-V.
o General IT operations concepts and procedures.
o Understand the basics of IT security but they are not experts in security or messaging security/privacy/compliance and do not have more than a cursory awareness of Forefront Security for Exchange.
o Familiar with basic Exchange Management Shell/PowerShell capabilities but they are not familiar with Windows PowerShell 2.0.

Module 1: Exchange Server 2010 – Enhancing the User Experience
This session describes some of the significant enhancements provided in Exchange Server 2010. This session provides an overall description of the most important design priorities for Exchange 2010. It also provides additional details on the enhancements that the Exchange Server 2010 users will experience. This session provides a description of how these features work, as well as the information on how to configure these features.
o Design Priorities for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
o Client Access Feature
o Message Policy and Compliance Features
o Unified Messaging Features
o Federated Sharing Features

Module 2: Exchange Server 2010: Enhancing the Exchange Administrator Experience
This session provides a description of some of the new features in Exchange Server 2010 that will make is easier for administrators to manage and maintain the messaging environment. Also included in this session is a description of the new message transport features, the new database and high availability options, and the new administration tools and features. This session also provides an overview of the process for upgrading from previous versions of Exchange Server to Exchange Server 2010.
o Configure the new message transport features
o Configure the new mailbox server features
o Configure high availability in Exchange Server 2010
o Administer Exchange Server 2010 by using the new administration tools and permission assignments
o Describe the upgrade path from Exchange Server 2003 or Exchange Server 2007 to Exchange Server 2010
