Workshop: Self-searching in patent databases (RVO)

9 Oct 2020

With more than 110 million patent publications, patent databases are a source of inspiration to save time and money during your innovation process. They provide you with information for your own product development, but also about developments in your field and about competitors. By reviewing this information in time, you will avoid reinventing the wheel or infringing on the rights of others. In addition, patent information provides insight into, for example, strategic cooperation partners.

Smart search

During this workshop, theory, practical examples and classroom and individual assignments alternate. You will learn: different methods for smart searches in patent databases; the first steps to interpret search results; check the validity of patents; how to automatically keep abreast of the latest patent publications in your field. Searching in the patent databases is done with English words. The workshop itself is in Dutch.

Required basic knowledge

Some basic knowledge is required to attend this workshop. We assume that you have insight into:

  • the most important Intellectual Property (IP) rights, as stated in the brochure The basis of intellectual property.
  • at what times information from IP databases can improve your innovation process.
