From today you can download the app 'Coronamelder', as we read today in the Newspaper Financieel Dagblad. The app is intended this month for a large-scale practical study in the regions of Twente and Drenthe, but the app could also be installed in the rest of the Netherlands from that moment on. The app must go live nationally on 1 September.
The app is intended to map whether the owner of the phone has been in the vicinity of someone who appears to have corona. Via bluetooth, the application automatically keeps track of which other users of the app have been close by for a certain period of time. If one of those users is diagnosed with corona, the app will automatically send a notification. Health Minister Hugo de Jonge thinks that the telephone application can help contain the virus by taking over and further refining part of the contact investigation of the GGDs. Will you participate too?
