Value, that's what we sell!

Mycronic

Paul Rooimans is the CEO of Mycronic in Benelux, Italy, Spain, UK and Russia. The company relocated to the Mμ building on High Tech Campus Eindhoven in mid 2015. Besides attractive office space, the company now also has all the space it needs for its own training room and a fully-equipped, professional experience centre, where company and production processes are simulated. As the MYNews company magazine comments: 'We've stopped selling just machines. Value, that's what we sell!'.

Paul: "A year ago, we announced that we didn't want to restrict ourselves to selling just SMT machines any more. We want to be able to offer our clients more. How? Today, we also create value for them by advising them on their production processes and overall factory organisation. You may ask how clients are able to use our expertise, experience, software and machines to improve these processes. We improve the health of clients' business operations in the electronics assembly industry, putting them in a position to generate more profit. That's what makes us different to our competitors. After all, anyone can sell machines. We do more, acting as both a business consultant and a strategic partner. We make sure that our clients are able to compete with low-wage countries."

Optimisation of the production process
"We chose to locate ourselves at High Tech Campus Eindhoven because of its high-tech environment and the initiatives being launched there - smart industry, for example. This experience centre is new", Paul explains while walking through the room in question. Our concept is now being rolled out worldwide within Mycronic. "Many clients buy machines on the basis of capacity, without any understanding of how this capacity is affected by situations characterised by change, whether as a result of logistics, planning, an unexpected order or last-minute changes to a product, for example."

We are both a business consultant and a strategic partner

"We always carry out a preliminary assessment, a 360° industry benchmark (audit) at our potential clients’ factories", Paul continues. "Which gives us an idea of how efficient business processes are. We shadow management and employees on the work floor for a day and follow this up with feedback the next day. We then advise them how to improve their productivity and grow. We use our knowledge and expertise to implement software and machines on the basis of a fully customised approach and in line with the wishes, situation and needs of the client in question. This is something that we clarify in this experience centre. The ultimate object is for our SMT assembly lines to be more profitable and produce more. As you might expect, this involves considering the situation as it is today, but also looking ahead to the situation as it might be three years in the future."

MBO and HBO electronics students are more than welcome to come along to familiarise themselves with their future occupations

Trainen
Paul laat het trainingslokaal zien. "We ontvangen hier 200 cursisten per jaar. Dat kunnen operators zijn, werkvoorbereiders, logistiek medewerkers.  We hebben een open trainingsprogramma. Ook MBO/HBO elektronica-studenten zijn meer dan welkom, want operators van dit soort machines en software zijn moeilijk te vinden en we hebben ze ook in de toekomst keihard nodig. Hier kunnen ze zien en ervaren wat het vak inhoudt. Decanen kunnen te allen tijd contact met ons opnemen om te kijken wat we voor elkaar kunnen betekenen."
