Security - Attention to make a Backup

6 Apr 2021

Last week, March 31 was World Backup Day. The ICT company Javelin, based in hub Twinning, reminded us of this. With the World Backup Day, organizations worldwide are called upon to back up their data. Because what do you do if you fall victim to a cyber attack and your data has disappeared from the server? After all, it has major consequences for the continuity of your organization if important data is lost. Avoid this unpleasant situation by regularly backing up all your data. Javelin is happy to give a golden tip for making a good backup and is also happy to tell you more about their own online backup service.

3-2-1 rule

Javelin's Ruben van Leusden likes to give the golden tip for making a backup: apply the 3-2-1 rule. In concrete terms, this means that you must make three copies of your data, on at least two different storage media, one copy of which is stored at an external location, such as a cloud provider. By following this basic rule, you will significantly reduce the chances of losing data. For example, if there is a data breach or fire at one of the locations, you still have the other backups on hand.
