No more solar races for the Solar Team of Eindhoven University of Technology. This year, the Eindhoven students are coming up with a self-sufficient house on wheels, a kind of camper on solar energy. The first sketches of the plan were presented on Thursday
The new solar car that should soon be available to everyone will be called SHOW. That stands for Self-sustaining House On Wheels, or: self-sufficient house on wheels. The intention is that people will soon be able to live, work and live in the mobile home. And all this on solar energy.
Hit the road after the summer
According to the students, the car will soon have to generate enough energy to be able to drive, shower, watch TV, charge your laptop and make coffee. “SHOW makes you completely self-sufficient and independent. This is possible through smart application of new technologies. Brainport Eindhoven offers us many possibilities in this regard ”, says Kjell Revenberg, team manager of Solar Team Eindhoven.
With SHOW, the team wants to challenge the energy and car industry to switch more quickly to environmentally friendly energy. She is still looking for sponsors for the project. The students hope that the new 'house on wheels' can hit the road in September.
Prices
Solar Team Eindhoven has achieved great success in recent years. The student group managed to win the last four editions of the solar car races with their various Stella's. The inventors of the first solar car for the consumer market, the Lightyear, also come from the Solar Team.
